SLH2 horizontal twin scissor tables: long loads need synchronized support

SLH2 places two scissor mechanisms under one long platform so long or awkwardly distributed loads rise level. European catalogues describe the same idea as horizontal double scissors (EdmoLift) or twin scissors (Marco): two packages arranged along the length, mechanically coordinated for parallel lift.

When a single scissor is the wrong answer
A single stage under a long deck concentrates support and invites deflection, twist, or local overload when you handle sheet materials, timber, pipes, tubes, or metal profiles. UK EdmoLift guidance calls out exactly those long, narrow loads for horizontal double configurations. If the product is long and the mass is spread, twin support is a stability decision — not a styling option.

Synchronisation is the product
Two scissor packages must rise together. European makers emphasise mechanical control for parallel operation so one end does not lead the other. In the brief, ask how synchronisation is achieved (mechanical linkage, hydraulic balancing, guided base), how the design behaves with partial loads on one end, and what happens during maintenance if one package is locked out.

Platform length vs stroke
Horizontal twin tables are sized for length first. EdmoLift standard horizontal-double platforms commonly start around 2.6 m and extend past 6 m, with capacities into multi-tonne territory. Stroke still matters for ergonomics and machine feeding, but buying extra height you never use only adds mass and closed height. Match L to the longest stable load plus handling clearance, then pick stroke from the real process heights.

Load cases to write down
State whether the load is uniform sheet, a single long beam, stacked packs that grow taller during the cycle, or a fixture with offset mass. Twin tables forgive length better than they forgive surprise edge moments across the width. Also list any roller conveyors or stops mounted on the deck — they change both mass and how operators place the product.

SLH2 vs SLLW vs SLX
Choose SLH2 for long platforms at ordinary closed heights where twin scissors keep the deck level. Choose SLLW when you still need a long low-profile deck for ramp loading near floor level. Choose SLX when the platform is compact and one scissor pair is enough. Choose SLV2/SLV3 when vertical reach is the constraint, not platform length.

Brief checklist for an SLH2 drawing
1) Maximum load length and how the mass is distributed along L
2) Required platform L × W and any deck equipment
3) H MIN / H MAX or stroke for feeding / stacking heights
4) Synchronisation and guarding expectations
5) Duty cycle and whether end-heavy partial loads occur in normal use
