SLX is the standard single-scissor lift table: one X-mechanism, one platform, and a hydraulic cylinder package sized for everyday vertical positioning. European manufacturers such as EdmoLift and Marco treat this layout as the default industrial workhorse because it balances closed height, usable stroke, and footprint without the complexity of stacked or twin mechanisms.

What “single scissor” really means in the brief
A single-scissor table raises the platform with one scissor pair. Stroke is limited by geometry: as European catalogues often note, practical maximum stroke is typically around platform length divided by about 1.5. If your required travel exceeds that ratio, you are no longer in SLX territory — you need a high-lift single design or a vertical multi-stage table (SLV2 / SLV3). Getting this wrong early is the most common cause of unstable quotes and redesign loops.

Capacity is not only a kilogram number
Rated capacity (for example 1000 kg, 2000 kg, or 3000 kg class) assumes a load that sits within the platform envelope and does not create extreme edge moments. Off-centre pallets, tall fixtures, or roller conveyors mounted on the deck change the real demand on the scissors and cylinders. When European makers publish wide capacity ranges (EdmoLift from a few hundred kilos to 10 tonnes; Marco similarly into the multi-tonne range), they still expect the application brief to state centre of gravity, not only total weight.

Stroke, closed height, and workstation ergonomics
Closed height (H MIN) sets how the table interfaces with trolleys, conveyors, or pit edges. Stroke (H MAX − H MIN) sets how far the operator or process can move the load. For packing, assembly, and height-matching between lines, SLX is usually enough when you need roughly 800–1200 mm of travel on a compact base. If operators must reach mezzanine landings or tall cells, do not stretch an SLX beyond its geometric comfort zone — move to vertical double or triple scissors.

Platform length and width drive everything else
Platform length (L) and width (W) should be driven by the largest stable footprint of the product or pallet, plus clearance for fixtures. Length also gates stroke. Width affects side access and cylinder packaging. A longer platform is not automatically better: unused overhang invites eccentric loading. Match L × W to the real load rectangle first, then check that the resulting stroke still meets the process.

Safety and compliance context in Europe
Industrial lift tables for goods handling are commonly designed against EN 1570-1. The 2024 revision is already published as a harmonized standard, with the earlier edition losing presumption of conformity for new CE marking after mid-March 2026. For buyers, that means the specification should call out intended use (goods only vs operators), fixed landings if any, guarding, and travel-zone risks — not only capacity and colour.

When SLX is the right family
Choose SLX for assembly benches, packing stations, buffer height adjustment, and general workshop positioning where one stage covers the travel, the platform is not unusually long, and floor-level pit-free loading is not mandatory. Prefer low-profile families (SLL / SLLW / SLLU) when closed height must stay near floor level for ramp or pallet-jack access. Prefer SLH2 when the platform is long and needs twin scissors under the deck. Prefer SLV2 / SLV3 when vertical reach is the dominant requirement.

Brief checklist before you buy the drawing
1) Rated load and centre of gravity
2) Required H MIN and H MAX (or stroke)
3) Platform L × W and any conveyor / fixture mass on the deck
4) Duty cycle and lift time expectations
5) Pit vs floor mounting, power pack location, and EN 1570-1 use case
If those five points are clear, an SLX configuration can be sized cleanly — and you avoid paying for multi-stage complexity you do not need.
