How to choose the right scissor lift table configuration

Choosing a scissor lift table is easier when you start with the work, not the mechanism. The right configuration should support the load, the operator, and the surrounding workflow without forcing compromises later.

1. Start with the real working load
Include the product, fixture, pallet, tooling, and any material that will sit on the platform at the same time. Choose a capacity that covers the complete working load rather than only the item being lifted.

2. Match the platform to the load envelope
Platform length and width should support the largest footprint in normal use. Leave enough room for locating parts and for the operator to work comfortably, while keeping the load centred on the table.

3. Define both working heights
Maximum height matters, but closed height matters too. The lowest position should allow safe loading and a practical handoff from pallet trucks, conveyors, or the shop floor.

4. Consider the duty cycle
A table used for occasional positioning needs a different configuration from one that lifts repeatedly throughout a shift. Define the expected number of cycles, lift speed, and available power before selecting the drive system.

5. Plan the surrounding workflow
Think about access from every side, guarding, loading direction, and the space needed around the platform at full height. These details often determine whether a standard table is enough or a custom configuration is more suitable.

A good lift table makes the job calmer, safer, and more repeatable. Write down the load, platform size, closed height, raised height, and duty cycle before comparing models; that short brief will make every later decision clearer.
